Construction Update - July 7, 2004



Lights have been mounted across the top of the station.

Brickwork and paver installation inside the station has been completed.

Contractors have completed stone installation on the north wall of the station's exterior.

Inside the station crews are finishing installation of glass and handrails. Metal panels for the escalator are ready for installation.

Workers will soon begin to clean up the trolley platform and apply sealant.


W lot and Aztec Circle Drive West, built over the trolley tunnel, have reopened. They have been closed since the project began.

Contractors have completed installation of the divider wall.

Fire alarms and firefighter phones are ready for testing.

Catenary wire installation has reached the tunnel entrance.

Crews have begun to lay trolley tracks and will soon route electrification wires.


Construction crews have poured concrete for the spiral planter area.

The Signature tree is in the ground.

Construction workers are preparing to pour concrete mow strips and trench drains for the spiral planter.

Soon landscaping will begin at Aztec Green.

Pavers have been installed along Aztec walk.

Sod has been laid at Campanile Plaza.

Chinese Elms and Pear trees now line the transit center above the trolley station.

Light poles atop the transit center have been installed. Crews plan to have the transit center ready for bus usage come the fall semester.

Pedestrian Detours

  • The sidewalk entrance to campus via College Avenue is closed. Pedestrians entering campus can use the detour over the new pedestrian bridge.
  • Aztec Walk behind the softball field is closed to pedestrian access. Pedestrians walking from Campanile Mall to Cox Arena or the Aztec Recreation center can use Hardy Avenue or the walkway between the music buildings along Cox Arena.


Parking Information:

  • G Lot, located east of College Avenue just south of Parking Structure 1, is closed. Additional visitor parking is available in Parking Structure 5 (Aztrac) located on 55th and Montezuma and Parking Structure 6, located directly north of PS3 on East Campus Drive and Montezuma.
