THE PROJECT
Plaza Linda Verde will create a dynamic gateway between the campus and community with tree-lined streets, student housing, outdoor dining and gathering spaces that will provide an attractive and exciting environment for the community-at-large.
Student Housing
In direct response to community input, Plaza Linda Verde includes plans for new university-managed housing for 600 upper-division students in the first phase.
This addition of housing will directly assist SDSU with its goal to house 10,000 of its students either on campus, or within walking distance of campus in university-affiliated housing or nearby apartment complexes.
Retail and Parking Amenities
Plaza Linda Verde will provide a sustainable, pedestrian/bicycle-friendly environment and include retail that will serve both the campus and the surrounding community with on-site parking.
The first phase consists of 45,000 square feet of ground-floor retail that is likely to include: a community market, such as Trader Joe's, Windmill Farms or Whole Foods; one or more restaurants; and other community-serving retail shops.
A second phase, which would require additional property acquisition, would include housing for an additional 600 students and another 45,000 square feet of retail. While SDSU will continue to pursue available parcels to develop future phases of the project, all property acquisitions would involve voluntary sellers only.
