The Campus Master Plan is the blueprint that guides the physical growth and development of the campus. Revisions to the Campus Master Plan are made periodically to reflect changing conditions. SDSU recently updated its current Campus Master Plan to provide a long-term vision to accommodate increased student enrollment demand and to plan for future facilities needed to accommodate student growth.

SDSU's Campus Master Plan was developed with careful thought to achieving the state's educational goals and objectives and responding to CSU policies and directives, while having the least impact on our neighbors. A committee of faculty, staff, students and alumni worked for nearly two years to analyze a number of options for campus growth. The resulting Campus Master Plan focuses future campus growth entirely on university-owned or affiliated property adjacent to the existing campus.

The Campus Master Plan will help SDSU achieve the following important goals:

  • Continue to provide access to high quality university education in the face of increasing demands
  • Enhance SDSU’s status as an outstanding undergraduate, graduate and research university
  • Support efforts to recruit and retain exceptional faculty
  • Encourage a diverse student body
  • Continue to contribute to the region’s economic future

The Campus Master Plan includes a number of elements, including an increase in enrollment capacity to provide access to a greater number of students, additional classroom and support facilities, student, faculty and staff housing and a hotel to serve university guests and visiting scholars.
