The Revision to the Campus Master Plan will complement many other exciting changes that have occurred or are on the horizon for SDSU. Some, like the trolley and the College of Arts & Letters building, are recently completed and operational. Others are approved and included as a part of the existing Campus Master Plan. The funding for these projects will come from a variety of sources.

The San Diego Trolley began serving SDSU in the summer of 2005, and has significantly improved access to the campus. The subterranean transit station is approximately 50 feet under Aztec Walk between Adams Humanities and Aztec Center. Its location on campus is significantly closer than any of the current parking structures, creating easy access to class upon arrival. (View a short video - 1.6MB)

Trolley service to campus has resulted in a decrease in traffic on the roadways around SDSU, relieving commuter congestion near campus, and improving access to events at Cox Arena and the Open Air Theater. SDSU has sold over 4,000 transit passes this year. The Trolley provides San Diego State students more and better options to travel and get around the city and will give students without a car an array of living options away from campus, from Mission Valley to Downtown to East County.

A 170,000 square foot building for the College of Business Administration is proposed to be constructed in Lot F on the campus. The building will be funded with a combination of state and non-state sources. The college anticipates raising funds for enhanced office spaces, specialized lecture and program space for the Executive Education Center, Entrepreneurial Management Center and various institutes. The state will be asked to support a program with 120 standard faculty offices, academic departmental offices, a dean suite, a student affairs office, and other state-supported space as justified. The building is proposed to be constructed in 2009, assuming state funding support and donor funding can be secured.

A 5,000 square foot addition to the International Student Center will house additional program and office space. The campus International Student's program has grown since the original building was constructed and the need for more space has been met with a temporary building currently on an adjacent site. The proposed addition to the original building will include six offices, a large conference and meeting space, resident advisors space, and support facilities. This project will proceed when fundraising has been completed.

New athletic facilities have been constructed, including tennis courts, a softball stadium and swimming pools. The Tennis and Softball Complex provides high quality permanent facilities for the men's and women's intercollegiate tennis teams and the women's intercollegiate softball team. The 12 full-size, lighted tennis courts and 3,300 square foot Tennis Center building are available to students, faculty and staff of the university when not being used by the tennis teams. The Softball Stadium complex features a lighted, natural grass field and permanent seating for approximately 300 spectators.

The Swimming Pool Complex replaces Terry Pool, which was taken out of service in June 2000. It provides pool facilities for educational and recreational use by students, faculty and staff as well as providing facilities for use by the university's intercollegiate swim team. The complex includes three pools; an Olympic-style pool, a 7,000 square foot recreational pool and a hydrotherapy spa. The Swimming Pool Complex also includes an 11,000 square foot building to accommodate showers, locker rooms, and support facilities. Permanent bleacher seating for approximately 500 spectators is also included. The Swimming Pool Complex will open in March 2007.
