ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

COMMENTS

I'm extremely proud of San Diego State University. My business degree prepared me well for the 'real world' for the past 30 years. I didn't really appreciate the quality of my education until I encountered several SDSU grads in multiple states and at different companies. Without exception, the SDSU folks were some of the brightest and most hardworking people around. That's when I became 'prouder than ever' to be an Aztec. I fully support the approach currently being taken by the school to make San Diego State the safest school in America. Now, watch how other schools will follow our lead. Way to go, Dr. Weber. And, GO AZTECS!

- John Bartley, SDSU alumnus Our comments are a day late, but it is never too late to salute SDSU as a great university. We are proud to be friends of SDSU.

- Elizabeth and Joseph Yamada You did the right thing. SDSU is a fine college and I enjoyed the academic as well as the social scene. Most of all, I really learned something. GO AZTECS!

- Willie J. Tate II I think efforts to clean up the drug problems on college campuses have been long overdue. For that reason, I applaud you for doing more than the minimum of warning students of the dangers of using drugs, but instead being very active in "cracking down" on suppliers & dealers as well. The message was sent loud and clear. Illegal drug dealing is not ok, and will not be accepted on SDSU's campus!

- Keith Henry, SDSU alumnus

San Diego state is a wonderful university. I have met teachers with intellect, knowledge and personality. I learned a lot from being here and grown from the experiences I have encountered and overcome. I will never forget San Diego State and the all the wonderful teachers and students that I have met. Class of 2008 forever!

- Soad Ella Elashrfi I am so proud of the university and the president for taking these actions to ensure a safe campus. Most major universities would not want the "bad press". These recent actions show that the well-being of the students and not the donors are at the heart of this matter. I will be proud to send my boys to State when their time comes.

- Christine Hersh Ausdemore
President Weber

We wish to commend and thank you for your behind the scenes support of the drug investigation that went on at your College Campus.

We are aware of the explosive nature of this strong stand, from many who take a much less serious light of drug use. It shocks us that even a co-eds death last year didn't rattle that kind of mindset!

As parents of 5 children who have all entered colleges upon high school graduation, living in dorms - we wish all college presidents would be this direct and public about the need to put to an end the permissive and tacit support many college students have about illegal drug use.

Bravo! And God bless!

Diane and John Peske
I graduated from SDSU and I am now an employee. I like President Weber's pro-active stance against drug use on our campus. I am reminded of the quote, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Go President Weber!

- Tracy Arnold I totally support the actions to make SDSU a healthy and drug-free campus. I am proud to be part of a university that took the needed action to rid the campus of those associated with drug use and selling.

- Jane D. Gawronski I received my BA in Physical Education in 1975 and my Teaching Credential in 1976. I am PROUD to be an alumni of SDSU. I had a grand education with outstanding professors. Many have passed away and I still think fondly of them and their contribution to this fine university.

I am a native of San Diego and have taught at Dana Middle School for the last nine years. I have touched thousands of young lives since I began as a substitute teacher in 1976.

Thank You SDSU! Go Aztecs! "Too Fit To Quit!"

- Jean Marmet I am a big supporter of any effort to rid SDSU of the influences of drugs and the drug culture. When students are dying and fraternities are co-opted by drug dealers, the university must act. I am proud the administration didn't shy away or bury the issue despite the inevitable bad press.

Best regards,
- Thomas D. Franklin We are parents of an SDSU student. I wanted to let you know that we appreciate how you have handled this incident. Many colleges and universities would try to sweep a situation like this under the carpet instead of dealing with it directly. We are so glad you chose to go this way. Anyone who has a problem with how you've handled this is not aware that, whether or not they want to face it, this is a problem in almost every school in the country these days -- even some elementary schools. Thank you. Keep up the good work.

- Mr.& Mrs. D. Grossman President Weber, SDSU Faculty and Staff: Thank you for protecting the health and safety of our students. I am very proud of being an Aztec. My SDSU education has given me the foundation for my success and has provided me with the needed skills to be a great public servant. SDSU should be proud of its accomplishments. Our diverse alumni are indicative of our strength as a university and a community. We are teachers, engineers, business leaders, public officials, counselors, nurses and, above all, we are productive members of society who work hard to make California the eighth largest economy in the world. GO AZTECS!!!

- Ricardo Lara I am a mother of a sophomore student at SDSU and a pediatric nurse. I am very proud of the fact that the college my daughter attends is making every attempt to ensure a safe environment for her. I was surprised when I heard comments about how this may tarnish the school's reputation. On the contrary, I think it is commendable that the SDSU administration, in conjunction with law enforcement officials, worked together to arrest those involved and hold them accountable for their part in harming a great school community. I am proud of my daughter as well. She sees all of this as very positive and is proud to be a student at SDSU.

- D. Tagan, SDSU parent I am proud of SDSU for fighting offensively in the war on drugs. I am a 1992 graduate in music education and have been a choir teacher in the public schools for the past 15 years. Many of my students go to SDSU - and now it is a safer place. Well done!

- Laralee Alderson Beck, SDSU alumna After reading the article in today's U-T and seeing the ad, you can add my name to those who are Prouder Than Ever of our great university. Dr. Weber is to be commended for his fearless leadership, and schools everywhere should follow his lead!

- Tom Ables, SDSU alumnus SDSU is not defined by the relatively small number of students arrested as the result of the recent drug investigation.

- Richard and Jacqueline Songer, friends of SDSU I am proud to have been fortunate enough to be the first in my family to earn a college degree at such an incredible university. SDSU prepared me for all the success life has to offer and I could not be more proud to be an Aztec.

- Dennis Bauer, SDSU alumnus Without my experience at SDSU, I would not be the same person. Thank you for everything!

- Quirin Seitenberger, SDSU alumnus I am proud to have been fortunate enough to be the first in my family to earn a college degree at such an incredible university. SDSU prepared me for all the success life has to offer and I could not be more proud to be an Aztec.

- Dennis Bauer, SDSU alumnus What an honor and privilege it is to be able to join so many others who are truly proud of a great institution, SDSU.

- Robert Luitjens, SDSU alumnus As a 36-year retiree and alumna of SDSU I'm very glad to see the proactive role the university has taken to stop some of the drug activity at SDSU. As the May 19 issue of Newsweek magazine stated, SDSU has a "solid academic reputation." The fact that SDSU was open about it, even enlisting the assistance of the DEA shows the country that SDSU is serious about the protection of our students. I use the words "our students" because even though I'm retired, I spent more than half my life working at SDSU and I cherish each and every one of "my" students with whom I came into contact.

- Linda Neal, SDSU alumna I'm wearing red and black - loud and proud.

- Daniel Osztreicher, VP of external affairs, Associated Students As a 1988 graduate of San Diego State University, I proudly wear my SDSU t-shirts, hoodie and hat to show my support. My daughter will be a senior in high school next year and, after taking a tour this spring, expressed a desire to attend SDSU. I would be proud for my daughter to have the opportunity to attend SDSU.

- Tracy Pettaway Life is all about the choices available to us and the decisions we make. Fortunately, the overwhelming majority of students at San Diego State University choose to make the right decision on a daily basis. That is why SDSU remains the phenomenal institution it is; nothing will ever change that, not even the questionable actions of a few individuals. I am proud to be an Aztec Alumni now and forever!

- Wilfredo "Freddy" Saluna
