SDSU Police and FBI Arrest Man for Hoax Threats
SAN DIEGO (Thursday April 19, 2007, 1 p.m.) - FBI agents and San Diego State University Police officers have arrested a man in connection with threats made against the campus. Cristobal Fernando Gonzalez, age 32, of Bonita, California was arrested on Wednesday night on federal charges of using the Internet to send a threatening communication. Gonzalez was booked into the Metropolitan Correctional Center and is scheduled for an appearance at 1:30 p.m. today in Federal Court. San Diego State University Police and the FBI are calling threats made against the SDSU campus a hoax and say the campus was never in any immediate danger. Gonzalez is not believed to have any affiliation with SDSU. The university remains open and classes and other campus activities are continuing this week as scheduled. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings and contact the SDSU Police immediately at (619) 594-1991 if they see anything suspicious.
