SAN DIEGO, Thursday, April 14, 2005 – Community members looking for free or low-cost help on anything ranging from running their business to maintaining their health to raising their kids can now take advantage of C2C, an easy-to-browse, comprehensive online directory of hundreds of services available to the public from San Diego State University.

C2C, which stands for Campus to Community, is available at http://c2c.sdsu.edu/. It features a searchable database of more than 150 SDSU programs in fields as varied as arts and culture, education, health, technology, public safety and business development. These programs can provide access to the latest applicable research, methods or technology, and all are available for free or for a nominal fee.

“For years San Diego State’s civic-minded faculty, staff and students have been engaged in developing real solutions to real problems for the community,” said SDSU President Stephen L. Weber. “We want to make it easier for the public to find these programs and services and take advantage of them. This is the first time information on all of these programs has been compiled in one location.”

The C2C directory contains 11 categories of services offered by SDSU. In the Business/Economic Development category, for example, the public can find more than a dozen resources ranging from MBA consulting, to Hospitality and Tourism Management student volunteers who can help staff events to industrial hygiene assessments. In the Health category, people can access programs that provide screenings for speech, hearing or language disorders, neurobiological and developmental testing for infants and toddlers, fitness programs for individuals with disabilities, and much more. Users can also customize their searches with keywords to browse across all 11 categories. The directory will be updated regularly to add new programs or reflect other changes.

“The vast array of programs in the C2C directory demonstrates the commitment of our faculty, students and staff to helping the region,” Weber said. “It’s another example of SDSU’s value to the San Diego community.”

The creation of C2C was funded by a grant from the President’s Leadership Fund and a matching grant from QUALCOMM.
