SAN DIEGO, Friday, March
25, 2005 San Diego State University invites the entire community
to campus on Saturday, April 9 for Explore SDSU: Open House 2005
presented by The San Diego Union-Tribune and Time Warner Cable,
which offers a full day of fun exhibits and family entertainment.
Explore SDSU begins at 9 a.m. with events that
highlight each of the colleges, dozens of departments and student
organizations around campus. There will also be two stages with
live entertainment, a health fair, tours of labs and research facilities,
and other family programming.
Explore SDSU is an opportunity for alumni
and the community to celebrate our 75th year on Montezuma Mesa and
learn more about what makes SDSU a powerhouse university,
said Jack Beresford, assistant vice president of Marketing &
Communications.
Highlights of Explore SDSU include:
A health fair sponsored by the College of
Health and Human Services. The fair features health assessments
by San Diego Countys Mobile Hospital, the Aging and Independent
Service Information Van, and hospitals from around the region who
are partners in SDSUs Nurses Now program.
Tours of many of SDSUs leading-edge
programs and facilities. Visit the College of Engineering to see
concrete canoes and rockets designed by students, or the College
of Sciences to see planetarium shows or microbiology labs dedicated
to fighting disease. Guests can also check out the SDSU Library,
KPBS studios, the Childrens Center, the Aztec Athletics Center
and more.
A Kids Zone, where lil Aztecs can
enjoy meeting KPBS characters Maya and Miguel, Rad Hatter arts and
crafts, a football toss with current Aztecs and more.
The Time Warner Cable stage and The Union-Tribune
stage will feature music acts and dance performances by SDSU talent.
The AzFest will begin at 5 p.m. and feature
local music acts chosen by Associated Students.
Parking and admission are free. Guests are encouraged
to use campus parking lots on the east side of College Avenue.

An afternoon baseball game at Tony Gwynn
Stadium and a softball game at SDSUs new softball complex.

Explore SDSU is the culminating event of SDSU Month
2005, a month long celebration of the universitys ties with
the San Diego community. SDSU Month 2005 sponsors and media partners
