SAN DIEGO, Friday, February
11, 2005 San Diego State University is proud to announce
eight new members to The Campanile Foundation Board of Directors.
The Campanile Foundation, established in 1999,
is SDSUs philanthropic auxiliary and its purpose is to increase
private giving and manage the philanthropic assets of the university.
Since the foundations inception, SDSU has raised a record
$227 million in private gifts. The board consists of 28 volunteer
community members, each serving three-year terms, plus one student
representative serving a one-year term.
Every year the work of The Campanile Foundation
Board becomes more important because philanthropic support becomes
increasingly necessary for San Diego State to achieve its educational
and community service goals, said Theresa Mendoza, vice president
of University Advancement and chief executive officer of The Campanile
Foundation. They have my most sincere thanks for making their
commitment to the Board and the university, and were looking
forward to their contributions to the foundations goals.
The eight members who have just begun their terms
are:
· Robert Barron, (1984, Finance) chief financial
officer for 20th Century Fox Television.
· Steven Davis, (1979, Accounting) and senior
vice president of External Relations and CFO, San Diego Gas &
Electric.
· Raymond Dittamore, (1966, Accounting)
and retired managing partner for Ernst & Young (San Diego office).
· Lawrence Emond, (1989, International Business)
and chief marketing officer for The Gallup Organization.
· Erin Hogeboom, who serves as the SDSU
student representative on the board. Hogeboom is a sophomore studying
International Security and Conflict Resolution.
· Mark McMillin, (1979, Marketing) and chairman,
The Corky McMillin Companies.
· Vincent Mudd, President and CEO of San
Diego Office Interiors Corp.
· Ralph Pesqueira, (1957, Marketing) and
owner and president of El Indio Shops, Inc., and former member,
California State University Board of Trustees.
The Campanile Foundation has had great success
building a tremendous amount of community support for SDSU in a
relatively short time period, said Mark McMillin. My
fellow new board members and I are excited for the opportunity to
build on that success in ways that will benefit every facet of the
university.
The first full meeting with the new board members
takes place this month.
We are very pleased to add such a distinguished
group of individuals to the board, said board chairman Ron
L. Fowler, Chairman and CEO of Liquid Investments, Inc. They
are leaders in their industries and in the community who will contribute
valuable expertise and enthusiasm to our ongoing mission of supporting
SDSU.
