SDSU TO HOST EXPLORE SDSU:
OPEN HOUSE 2004 ON SATURDAY, MARCH 27
Free Event Features Tours, Exhibits, Entertainment
SAN DIEGO, Monday, March
15, 2004 – San Diego State University invites one and all
to campus on Saturday, March 27 for Explore SDSU: Open House 2004
Presented by The San Diego Union-Tribune. The event will feature
tours, exhibits, and family entertainment.
Explore SDSU will begin
at 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. and highlight dozens of departments
and schools around campus. Four performance stages will be dedicated
to a full day of live entertainment as performed by SDSU’s
students, faculty and others.
"Explore SDSU is
an opportunity for alumni and others in the community to learn
more about what makes SDSU a powerhouse university," said
Jack Beresford, Interim Associate Vice President, Marketing &
Communication. "If you haven't been on campus in the past
couple of years, you'll be amazed at the transformation that has
occurred."
Highlights of Explore
SDSU include:
· A health fair
sponsored by the College of Health and Human Services. The fair
features health assessments by San Diego County’s Mobile
Hospital, the Aging and Independent Service Information Van, and
hospitals from around the region who are partners in SDSU’s
Nurses Now program.
· Tours of many
of SDSU’s leading-edge programs and facilities. Visit the
College of Engineering to see concrete canoes and a hybrid-electric
sports car, or the College of Sciences to see planetarium shows
or microbiology labs dedicated to fighting disease. Guests can
also check out the SDSU Library, KPBS studios, the new Children’s
Center, and more!
· A full day of
entertainment with music acts and dance performances by Associated
Students, SDSU’s School of Music & Dance, and SDSU’s
School of Theatre, Television and Film.
· Art exhibits
presented by the School of Art, Design & Art History.
· A Kids Zone,
where lil’ Aztecs can enjoy meeting KPBS characters Arthur
and Clifford, face painting, Rad Hatter arts and crafts, and more.
· “A Taste
of SDSU” featuring food from more than a dozen campus eateries.
Parking is free. Guests
are encouraged to use campus parking lots on the east side of
College Avenue.
