SAN DIEGO – (Monday, April 3, 2006) – San Diego State University’s entrepreneurship program ranked 22nd in the US News & World Report’s “America’s Best Graduate Schools” 2007 edition released online over the weekend and on newsstands today.

“We’re thrilled that our entrepreneurship program continues to be recognized by our peers as one of the best in the nation,” said Gail Naughton, dean of SDSU’s College of Business Administration. “Our faculty and staff work very hard to ensure our students have the best educational programs and experiential opportunities. Also, the private support we receive for our Entrepreneurial Management Center gives us an extra margin of excellence in our research, curriculum and outreach.”

SDSU’s ranking rose from 26th in 2005 and this year tied with Wake Forest University.

Overall, SDSU has six graduate programs that rank in the Top 50 of US News’ “America’s Best Graduate Schools.” Other Top 50 programs in categories not updated this year include: rehabilitation counseling (12th); speech and language pathology (22nd); audiology (36th) clinical psychology (38th); and social work (46th).

Also, SDSU’s College of Education placed 57th in the latest rankings, highest among any California State University campus. SDSU’s College of Education ranked 58th in 2005.

SDSU is the oldest and largest institution of higher education in the San Diego region. Founded in 1897, SDSU offers bachelor’s degrees in 81 areas, master’s degrees in 72 and doctorates in 16. SDSU’s nearly 33,000 students participate in academic curricula distinguished by direct faculty contact and an increasingly international emphasis that prepares them for a global future.
