SDSU Announces Athletic Director Finalists
President Expects to Appoint New AD by Sept. 30

SAN DIEGO, Friday, August 29, 2003 — San Diego State University has narrowed the field of athletic director candidates to three finalists. They are: Mike Bohn, director of athletics at the University of Idaho; Thomas J. Collins, senior associate athletic director at Arizona State University; and Cheryl L. Levick, director of athletics and recreation at Santa Clara University.

Each of the finalists will come to SDSU within the next few weeks to meet with President Stephen L. Weber, Vice President of Business and Financial Affairs Sally Roush, other campus officials, athletics staff and coaches, student athletes, alumni and private supporters. The university plans to appoint the new AD by Sept. 30.

“All three finalists are excellent administrators and have solid experience and respect in the community of intercollegiate athletics,” Weber said. “I want to express my thanks to the members of the athletic director selection committee, which did an outstanding job of quickly yet thoughtfully sorting through a very strong and large pool of applicants.”

Bohn has served as Idaho’s athletic director since 1998. He guided the Vandal program, which now has 15 sports, from NCAA Division I-AA to Division I-A and Sun Belt conference membership, and he is a former associate athletics director at Colorado State University.

Collins has worked at Arizona State for 18 years, the last three as senior associate athletic director. His duties currently include supervising seven of the university’s sports programs, managing media relations, licensing and ticket operations, fund raising and more.

Levick has served as director of Santa Clara’s 17-sport athletic program since 2000. Prior to that she worked for 12 years at Stanford University, the last eight as senior associate director of athletics, where she managed 33 sports programs, among other duties.
