SDSU Offers Experts on Estate Tax

SAN DIEGO, Friday, April 20, 2001 - San Diego State University offers the following tax experts to discuss the upcoming vote by the U.S. Congress on repealing the estate tax.

Dr. James Williamson, accounting professor in SDSU's College of Business, is an expert in tax issues. He can talk about the possible effects of the elimination on individual taxpayers and some common misconceptions regarding this tax.

Dr. Nathan Oestreich, accounting professor in SDSU's College of Business, is an expert on personal income tax. He oversees SDSU's Voluntary Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program in which accounting students provide free tax counseling to fellow students and community members. Also, he has studied the Bush proposal and could comment on this issue.

Dr. Allan Bailey, joined the accounting faculty at SDSU in 1968 teaching a wide-range of accounting and tax courses as well as serving as the founding director of the School of Accountancy until 1979 when he became Dean for the College of Business Administration. He currently serves as chief financial officer for the Campanile Foundation, SDSU's philanthropic foundation. Bailey can discuss the potential impacts of a repeal of the estate tax on non-profit organizations.
