SDSU Offers U.S./China Relations Experts

SAN DIEGO, Friday, April 6, 2001 - San Diego State University offers the following professors to provide commentary on U.S./China relations.

Dr. Lilly Cheng is director of SDSU's China Studies Institute and professor of Asian studies and of communicative disorders. She also serves as chair of the International Affairs Board and the Asian Pacific Islander Advisory Board for the City of San Diego. She earned a Ph.D from Claremont Graduate School, San Diego State University in speech pathology and multicultural education. She can be reached at (619) 594-0318, office.

Dr. Lei Guang, SDSU assistant professor of political science, is an expert in Chinese politics and international relations. He was born and raised in China and earned a Ph.D in political science from the University of Minnesota. His teaching and research interests are in the area of development politics, globalization, political economy and international relations in the Asia Pacific region. Dr. Mei Zhong, SDSU assistant professor of intercultural communication in the school of communication, earned a Ph.D. in communication studies from Kent State University. Her research interests include intercultural communication, cross-cultural interpersonal communication, and issues of communication and culture especially as related to the Chinese culture. Her research topics have covered conflict management, communication competence, only-child communication patterns, language, and communication motives.
