WHAT: “Science and Common Sense: Proverbs as ‘Vulgar’ Epistemology” is the subject of this year’s Andrew Bell Appleby Memorial Lecture at San Diego State University. The featured speaker is Steven Shapin, Ph.D., UCSD professor and author of major works in the field of sociology and science including “The Scientific Revolution” and “A Social History of Truth: Civility and Science in Seventeenth-Century England.”
