CALENDAR: SDSU Art Lecture Series to Feature Renowned Furniture Maker Gary Knox Bennett

WHAT: San Diego State University’s School of Art, Design and Art History presents a lecture by Gary Knox Bennett, one of the most prominent furniture makers in the United States. Bennett’s talk is titled, "Gimcracks."

WHEN: Thursday, April 16, 7 p.m.

WHERE: School of Art, Design and Art History, room 412

COST: Free and open to the public

BACKGROUND: Bennett, who studied metalworking at the California College of the Arts and Crafts, is a self-taught furniture maker. He has a most unusual style of working. His trademark is the combined use of fine metalwork and woodworking. His work is in several prominent museum collections, including the Oakland Museum, and the American Craft Museum. He has recently been appointed a fellow of the American Craft Museum. His studio is in Oakland.
