SDSU Experts Available Relating to Conflict With Iraq

The following San Diego State University faculty are available for comments on breaking news stories or background on Iraq, the Middle East, terrorism, conflict resolution or communicable diseases.

Dr. David Johns, 594-2778 (o), 583-2966 (h), Areas of expertise: U.S. Middle East policy/politics -- Iraq, international relations, international law, third-world politics. Johns is a professor of political science and director of the Institute for International Security and Conflict Resolution.

Dr. Clay Sharts, 594-5576 (o), 588-0766 (h), Area of expertise: chemical warfare, nerve gas. Sharts is a professor of chemistry and a captain in the Naval Reserves.

Dr. Nagy Nosseir, 594-4427 (o), 455-9202 (h), Areas of expertise: Middle East politics and culture, including Iraq. Nosseir is a native of Egypt and a professor of aerospace engineering.

Dr. Abram Benenson, M.D., 594-6108 (o), 287-6619 (h), Area of expertise: communicable diseases, including anthrax and botulism. Dr. Benenson is an emeritus faculty member with the Graduate School of Public Health.

Dr. Dipak Gupta, 594-4067(o), 484-7940 (h), Area of expertise: terrorism, political violence, and arms control. Gupta is a professor of public administration and co-director of the Institute for International Security and Conflict Resolution.
