New Dean Named at SDSU Imperial Valley Campus
San Diego State University Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs Ethan A. Singer today announced the appointment of Khosrow Fatemi, Ph.D., as Dean of SDSU’s Imperial Valley Campus (IVC). Fatemi, currently Dean of the College of Business Administration and the Graduate School of International Trade at Texas A&M University, will assume his duties early this August.
Singer said Fatemi’s background as an international scholar and author is well suited to SDSU’s goal of becoming a global university.
“Dr. Fatemi is a recognized scholar and author with a strong international focus, Singer said. “We look forward to welcoming him to the SDSU family.”
More than 75 applicants were evaluated before the position was offered to Fatemi, according to Jane Robinett, associate professor of English and Rhetoric and Writing Studies at IVC who served as search committee chair.
“We were particularly impressed with the fit of Fatemi’s prior experience with the needs of our campus and his vision for future campus development,” Robinett said, “as well as with his genuine interest in the campus and the community.”
Michael Hergert, Dean of SDSU’s College of Business Administration, was enthusiastic about the contributions Fatemi will make to the University’s teaching mission.
“He brings an outstanding record of program development and research in international business that will help us take advantage of the tremendous opportunities that exist in the border region,” Hergert said. “I look forward to working with him to develop collaborative programs between our campuses.”
