SDSU Offers Affordable Individual and Family Counseling

Sometimes personal or family problems are just too numerous, acute or difficult to manage without additional support. San Diego State University offers an Individual and Family Counseling Clinic which can provide assistance in developing problem-solving resources and options.

Counseling appointments are offered Monday through Thursday evenings on campus. Services are in English or Spanish and fees are on a sliding scale according to the client’s ability to pay.

The clinic functions in conjunction with the master’s degree program in the Department of Counseling and School Psychology. Counselors-in-training work under the direct supervision of marriage, family and child counselors and/or psychologists.

Individual counseling may be particularly useful for life changes such as a relationship loss; aloneness and loneliness; ethnic and cultural background differences; sexual identity issues; or ongoing stressors such as depression, substance abuse or eating disorders.

Relationship or family counseling may be useful in a many situations, including when a family member’s problems affect others; when relationship changes due to divorce or "empty nest syndrome"; or when cultural and ethnic differences exist between the family and the larger community.

For an appointment or information, call (619) 594-4918.
