SDSU to Celebrate African American History with
Dance, Music, Storytelling and More
WHAT: Storytellers, dancers, musicians, illustrators, educators, poets and authors will share their talents and diverse experiences as San Diego State University celebrates African-American history and achievements. The event is free and open to the public.
WHEN: 10 a.m. to Noon, Friday, February 27
WHERE: Montezuma Hall, San Diego State University
PARTICIPANTS: Community members and alumni who will share their talents and experiences include Kasimu Harley, poet; Starla Lewis, storyteller; Francheska Ahmed Cathorne, author; Jihmye Collins, author and the Rev. George McKinney, who will provide an historical and spiritual perspective. Ethnic foods will also be available. The event is sponsored by SDSU’s office of Educational Opportunity/Ethnic Affairs, Student Outreach Services, and Aim to Teach.
