SDSU psychology students slated for lion's share of awards
at Western Psychological Association convention

The Western Psychological Association, holding its annual convention April 24-27 in Seattle, informed the SDSU Department of Psychology that four out of 15 scholarships it has awarded went to SDSU students. This number of awards won by students from one university "may be a record," said Don Pannen, executive officer of the WPA.

To qualify for an award, students must be first authors and presenters of their research, as well as registered students and members of the WPA. Scholarship recipients are determined on the basis of a blind review of their work by the program review committee.

The SDSU students who will present their work and receive awards at the convention are Julie Anderson, in the master's degree program; Elizabeth Durham-Bigham, an undergraduate; Jennifer Ritter, in the joint doctoral program; and Tresa Roebuck, in the joint doctoral program.

Following is a list of their presentations:
Julie Anderson, Mark Bodnar, Patrick Huston, Samantha Kovacs, Carla Boone, Susan Wilson, and Kandis Mutter, "Sex Differences in Adult Vusual Recognition Memory."
Elizabeth Durham-Bigham, Jennifer D. Thomas, Steve Weinert, Vincent Quinn, Edward P. Riley, "One Day of Neonatal Alcohol Exposure Disrupts Behavioral and Brain Development in the Rat."
Jennifer Ritter, Greg Siegle, and Rick E. Ingram, "Depressive Factor Structure of Depressive and Anxious Symptomatology."
Tresa M. Roebuck, Troy Depriest, Sarah N. Mattson, and Edward P. Riley, "Personality Inventory for Children: Profiles of Alcohol-Exposed Children."
