SDSU 1997 Commencement Schedule

San Diego State University's commencement ceremonies will take place on Saturday and Sunday, May 24 and 25, 1997. More than 9,000 students have applied for graduation: 6,616 for bachelor's degrees, 1,625 for master's degrees, 37 for doctoral degrees, and 750 for teaching credentials.

Also, this year, valedictorian honors will go to three students who each have earned perfect 4.0 grade point averages. They are: Judith Kaye Blackford, nursing; Raechelle Lynn Hurst, public administration; and Gilit Zuckerman, economics.
All SDSU colleges and the Division of Undergraduate Studies will conduct their ceremonies in the Open Air Theatre at SDSU, with the exception of the Imperial Valley Campus which will hold its ceremony at its campus on May 22.

Because of seating limitations, admission to the ceremonies of the Colleges of Arts and Letters, Business Administration, Professional Studies and Fine Arts, and Sciences is by ticket only, distributed previously to students applying for graduation. Tickets are not necessary for the ceremonies of the other colleges.
Guests without tickets are invited to view the ceremonies on closed-circuit television in special viewing rooms on campus. Also, all commencement ceremonies will be broadcast live, May 24 and 25, on Cox Cable, channel 24; Cox Cable North, channel 18; and Southwestern Cable, channel 16.
In addition, a special black baccalaureate service will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, May 23, at the Bayview Baptist Church, 6126 Benson Avenue.
