SDSU appoints new alumni association director

Interim Vice President of University Relations and Development
Myrna Hall is pleased to announce the selection of Lance Burchett as the new director of the SDSU Alumni Association.

Burchett is leaving the position of associate executive director for the University of Arkansas Alumni Association, a post he has held since 1990. During his tenure, the University won several national awards for its alumni magazine and for membership recruitment and advancement efforts.

"We look forward to the leadership and expertise Lance brings to San Diego State," states SDSU President Stephen Weber. "The strength and vitality of the Alumni Association is critical to our overall institutional advancement success for the future."

Burchett received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Arkansas where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a walk-on quarterback for the Razorbacks under Coach Lou Holtz.

"The Alumni Association is excited to have recruited a new director whose recent experience parallels our board's strategic plan," said Alumni Association President Fred Pierce. "Over the past seven years Lance has helped build the University of Arkansas' alumni membership base from 11,000 to over 22,000. This is where we want to be at SDSU."

Burchett will start at the beginning of July.
