SDSU Alumna Marion Ross to be Honored with a Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

SAN DIEGO, Friday, July 6, 2001 - San Diego State University alumna and acclaimed actress Marion Ross, best known for her role as Mrs. Cunningham on "Happy Days," will be commemorated with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on July 12 at 11:30 a.m. at 6420 Hollywood Blvd.


She began her career in local theaters and maintains close ties with her alma mater; currently she serves as a member of the SDSU Campanile Foundation board of directors and served as honorary chair of SDSU's 2000 Homecoming festivities.


"We are elated that Marion will be immortalized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame," said SDSU President Stephen L. Weber. "Her distinguished career in television and film and her role on 'Happy Days' have made her a generational icon."


In 1983, Ross established the Marion Ross scholarships for SDSU theater students. She has also led workshops, appeared in campus productions and staged benefit performances for SDSU's College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts.


Her career includes more than 400 television appearances, including 11 years on "Happy Days" and roles on other television programs such as "The Drew Carey Show," "Touched by an Angel," "Gilmore Girls," "That 70s Show" and "Brooklyn Bridge."
