SDSU Names Cohen Director of Development for
College of Education

SAN DIEGO, Tuesday, August 15, 2000 - Margo Cohen has been named Director of Development for San Diego State University's College of Education.

"Margo brings a high level of professionalism, fundraising expertise and energy," said Lionel R. "Skip" Meno, dean of the SDSU College of Education. "We are very glad to have her as part of our team."

Cohen will work with Dean Meno on the National Center for the 21st Century Schoolhouse, the national clearinghouse of ideas on school facility design and educational programming; and the new Reading Center. She will also establish a College of Education Dean's Advisory Board by January 2001, and work to expand alumni involvement, both financially and through volunteer support, to the College of Education.

Prior to joining SDSU, Cohen was the development officer for the Arizona State University (ASU) West campus where she managed an $8 million campaign. She also served as director of annual giving and alumni relations at ASU's College of Law.

Before her position at ASU, Cohen was the annual giving officer at Phoenix Memorial Hospital. She also administered the Matching Gifts Program at Georgia Institute of Technology's Alumni Association, raising the program 25 percent above projected goals.

Cohen received her bachelor's of arts degree in sociology from Arizona State University in 1994 and is currently working on a master's degree in education. Cohen lives in La Jolla.
