Are Mexicans and Central Americans Indigenous to the Southwest?

WHAT: Nationally syndicated columnist and author, Roberto Rodríguez, will visit San Diego State University to talk about the existence and significance of the 1847 Disturnell Map, the official map of the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo. According to Mr. Rodríguez, the map "indisputably shows a site named Antigua Residencia de los Aztecas or Ancient Home of the Aztecs," which proves that rather than being foreigners, Mexicans and Central Americans are indigenous to Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. The lecture is free and open to the public.

WHEN: NOON, Friday, October 16, 1998.

WHERE: The Backdoor, located in the Aztec Center at the SDSU campus, 5500 Campanile Drive.

BACKGROUND: Mr. Rodríguez is the author of "Justice: A Question of Race," "The X in La Raza," "Codex Tamuanchan: On Becoming Human," and co-author of "Gonzalez/Rodriguez: Uncut and Uncensored." His lecture tour in California began on October 2 and ends October 16, 1998.
