Expert on wastewater treatment: Toilet water to drinking water (gulp)
Dr. Mirat D. Gurol (Phone 594-0391) is a world-class authority on the technologies of treating wastewater and contaminated water. Her research emphasis is on a wide range of issues dealing with reuse, recycling and waste treatment.
Dr. Gurol occupies the newly endowed Blasker Chair of Environmental Science and Engineering at San Diego State University. She holds degrees in environmental and chemical engineering and is a consultant to industrial organizations and others, including the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration in Turkey. She is on review panels for the National Science Foundation and the Environmental Protection Agency, and serves on committees of the American Water Works Association, the International Association on Water Quality, and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
