SDSU Forum to Examine ‘When Justice Fails’

The Institute of Public and Urban Affairs in the School of Public Administration and Urban Studies at San Diego State University will sponsor a provocative public forum entitled "When Justice Fails: Locked Up For Life," Thursday, November 20, in Montezuma Hall, at Aztec Center. The 7 p.m. presentation and discussion and will be preceded by a public reception at 6:30 p.m.

Kevin Green who was falsely imprisoned in California prisons for 16 years for the murder of his wife’s unborn child, and Dr. C. Ronald Huff, author, educator and consultant, will provide personal insights on the criminal justice system.

Green was freed after a fortuitous turn of events exposed the real killer. As a result of his experience, he has become a soft-spoken, but passionate, critic of the criminal justice system which branded him a killer and locked him up much of his adult life. His story is the subject of a feature film being planned by Walt Disney Studios.

C. Ronald Huff is the author of "Convicted But Innocent: Wrongful Conviction and Public Policy." Prior to becoming director and professor in the School of Public Policy and Management at Ohio State University, Huff held professional positions in a maximum security institution for mentally-disordered offenders. He has served as a consultant to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee and frequently appears on national media programs such as ABC’s "Good Morning America." Huff will provide insight into how and why innocent people are falsely accused, convicted and incarcerated.

Free parking provided in lots E, F, G, H and I on the east side of campus. Please RSVP to 594-6224. This event is open and free to the public, however, reservations are required. Call (619) 594-6224.
