IRAQ/MIDDLE EAST EXPERTS

The following San Diego State University faculty are available for comments on breaking news stories or background on Iraq and the Middle East:

Dr. David Johns, 594-2778 (o), 583-2966 (h), Areas of expertise: U.S. Middle East policy/politics--Iraq, international relations, international law, third-world politics. Johns is a professor of political science and director of the Institute for International Security and Conflict Resolution.

Dr. Nagy Nosseir, 594-4427 (o), 455-9202 (h), Areas of expertise: Middle East politics and culture, including Iraq. Nosseir is a native of Egypt and a professor of aerospace engineering.

Dr. Yoav Gelber, 594-3042 (o), Areas of expertise: Israeli Defense Force and military history, and the Peace Process. Gelber is a professor of history at Haifa University and SDSU’s Visiting Israeli Professor for fall ‘97.

Dr. Lawrence Baron, 594-5338 (o), Areas of expertise: Israeli issues, modern Jewish history, the Holocaust. Baron is a professor of history and director of SDSU’s Lipinsky Institute for Judaic Studies.
