Sixty-five years ago, SDSU took over an elementary school in Calexico, California, and turned it into a destination for upper division students. Today, it offers four-year degrees and is expanding its footprint in STEM, providing an essential workforce pipeline for the area.

I first visited the Mount Laguna Observatory, which is featured on the cover of our special web edition, last summer. I’d grown up camping and hiking in its shadow but never knew it existed. Now the secret is out on this SDSU gem, and I hope you have the chance to experience it for yourself.
