INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO
President’s Diversity Scholars
This investment provides scholarships for seven local, high-achieving, low-income students to attend SDSU. In an effort to celebrate
diversity and open the doors for tomorrow’s leaders, President Weber and the SDSU President’s Diversity and Equity Community Advisory
Council created the President’s Diversity Scholarships. With the support of The PLF, these scholarships are used to recruit new students
and give them the financial assistance necessary to attend San Diego State.
Hospitality and Tourism Management
The SDSU Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) School is the only program of its kind in the San Diego region. Having earned international
recognition for its academic and student excellence, this program plays a pivotal role in developing future leaders in an industry critical
to our local economy. Thanks to a $300,000 challenge grant from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and support from The PLF, a Center for Mentorship
and Volunteer Activities will be created and fully operational by September 2009. Through a formal mentorship and outreach program to students
in 13 high schools in the San Diego region, HTM students have the opportunity to serve as role models while promoting hospitality as a viable career option and encouraging a college education.
