Including students in research is just one reason why Seth Mallios, chair of the Anthropology Department, was awarded the President's Leadership Fund Award for Faculty and Staff Excellence.

Mallios, who came to SDSU in 2001, said that the main reason students are included in digging, recording and mapping is so they can determine if they really want to spend their lives that way.
