Our Library
San Diego State’s Library & Information Access is the intellectual center of our campus, supporting the university’s curricular and research needs while also presenting a wide range of exhibits, speakers and cultural events that enrich the campus and San Diego community. Special Collections and University Archives offer an abundant array of rare materials and archival resources. Our Library’s website provides access for students, faculty and staff, both in the library and remotely, to our catalogs, electronic books, journals and databases. We offer more than 600 public computers and support e-mail accounts for all students in addition to hosting their web pages. A section of our Library is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week during academic terms, providing students with study and computing facilities around the clock.

Our Vision
SDSU's Library and Information Access supports the teaching, research and service functions of the university while providing a welcoming and attractive library environment for students, faculty, researchers and the San Diego community. We are committed to building rich collections, including rare and unique holdings, many of which are available online to the international community of scholars and researchers. In addition, our Library embraces advances in information technology and is committed to ensuring that our students develop the skills they need to be successful in a complex information environment.
Our Fundraising Focus
- Establishing Endowments: Creating endowments in support of the university's programs of excellence as well as emerging initiatives will help to augment our research capabilities and academic distinction in specific fields of concentration.
- Acquiring Special Collections: Our rare books, manuscripts and archives build SDSU's reputation and support important scholarly research.
- Upgrading Furnishings and Facilities: Our Library is one of the most utilized facilities on campus with 206 million visits last year. The creation of a Children's Literature section, gallery and space for readings, lectures and gatherings along with renovation of library classrooms and upgrading of furnishings are priorities.
Our Request to You
As the center of intellectual activity for the San Diego State campus, Library and Information Access extends our resources beyond our domain. As our university expands its academic offerings and focuses on expanding its research capabilities, the resources we provide become increasingly important. The financial support of SDSU's alumni, parents, faculty, staff and community partners is essential for us to continue providing quality service to our visitors while also meeting the needs of our campus and surrounding community.
