Giving to the College of Health and Human Services

Dean Marilynn Newhoff

Our College
The College of Health and Human Services offers professional education in the health and human services disciplines. The college consists of the School of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, School of Nursing, School of Social Work , the Graduate School of Public Health and the Department of Gerontology. Its faculty, through advising, teaching and supervising, offer students a balanced educational experience of academic study, field placement, clinical experiences and research opportunities. Given the college's commitment to students, our alumni continue to work effectively with our professional schools and departments to preserve and promote the well-being of individuals, groups and communities.

Our Vision
Our college is committed to advancing research, providing international programs of distinction and fostering community partnerships. We strive to enhance faculty scholarship in order to contribute to the scientific base of knowledge. We recognize the importance of providing our students with culturally diverse educational opportunities, both on campus and around the world. Although our college has strong ties to the community, we seek to strengthen existing partnerships and create synergistic, new ones. Due to this commitment, we produce the finest health and human services professionals while also successfully placing outstanding, new researchers in academia.

Our Fundraising Focus

  • Faculty support: Various opportunities exist to assist the research efforts of faculty and promote teaching excellence including endowed professorships, research seed funding for and teaching technology grants.
  • Student support: You can provide critical support by funding scholarships for undergraduate students, whether based on financial need or academic excellence and potential or graduate fellowships for master's and doctoral candidates (which support their research).
  • Programmatic support: The college uses programmatic funding to develop program resources such as new laboratories, physical facilities, educational program initiative and outreach programs.
  • The Dean's Fund for Excellence: Supporting the Dean's Fund provides discretionary resources used to support a wide range of goals for the college.

Our Request to You
Our community demands, and deserves, competent health and human services professionals who have the training, experience and vision to serve the public and better our society. Producing this highly qualified workforce is the charge of our college. To uphold this promise, we need the support of foundations, community partners and alumni and friends like you. Please join us in our mission to improve the overall health and well being of our community.
