Over the past several years, philanthropic support of SDSU has become an increasingly critical revenue stream in order to advance key campus programs and services. University Development works closely with faculty members, volunteers, alumni and community partners to secure private funding in support of student scholarship, academic excellence, faculty recruitment and our learning environment.

Last year, these efforts secured $65.5 million in cash and pledges, including the largest corporate gift in SDSU's 108-year history-- a $14.5 million contribution from QUALCOMM Incorporated. Due to this success, and the recognition that private support will continue to provide the margin of excellence that enables SDSU to maximize current opportunities and capitalize on emerging possibilities, our university has commenced planning for its first-ever comprehensive campaign.

Housed within San Diego State’s University Advancement division, Development encompasses the areas of Major, Planned, Leadership and Annual Gifts; Advancement Services and Research; Communications; Donor and Volunteer Relations; and Special Events.
